  • Wedding Photographer Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire

Well Hello! Welcome to the website and team behind Monty Steedman wedding photography. We have been based in the towns of Guildford & Godalming covering the best of weddings in Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex and beyond for the past few years. We bring to the wedding table a totally enjoyable and relaxed way of documenting your wedding. Putting the focus on the smiles, the big hugs and all the little bit’s in-between that make being a wedding photographer a joy for us! The proof is in the pudding so feel free to view these words in action within the individual client wedding galleries below, including our revitalized Mighty Surrey PhotoBooth for when the good times kick up a level. :D

I’ve had the fortune and pleasure to know Wendy for a number of years, working through the days at the hospital in Guildford. It turns out I’m amongst many, many others who, in one way or another have been blessed in some way to know them. Someone asked just the other week “What is the best part of a wedding for a wedding photographer”? Apart from a couple of shots that I’ll keep to myself, there’s a part in any wedding day that condenses the feelings of everyone there. That part being the ‘speeches’, the part of the day where it’s time to get back on my achy knee’s (I’ve been through three pairs of worn through trousers already this year) and frame up the smile, the teary eye and the remarkable feeling that everyone’s there for this particular moment in life. You’ll find some of these wedding pictures nestled amongst others just below.

Robin & Wendy and their gorgeous Scarlett chose the magnificent Saint John’s church of Merrow in Guildford to tie the knot before heading over the rolling hills of Surrey to the centuries old Bury Court Barn in Farnham. Once a thriving hop farm before a conversion to a nursery (the plant kind). What was once a concrete courtyard now plays its part as a tapestry of flowers through which the warm sun filters through on days such as these.

If you were there, you won’t need me to tell you any more about the day than the sum of your warm memories and the connections in the wedding pictures below. We loved it.

It was a great pleasure to be Wendy & Robin’s wedding photographer at Bury Court Barn, but more than that, it’s a greater pleasure to be one of the hundreds who are blessed to know them, above all else.

Sarah & James chose the magical setting at Sandhurst to tie the knot at the incredible site of the Military Academy. The sun rose early and shone strong from the first glimpse of morning through till the dimming of lights down by the lakeside on a day bathed in love, laughter and friendship. It was a pleasure to be chosen as the wedding photographer to take pictures for such a lovely couple.

If you drew up a checklist of the ‘amazing day’ and let your imagination go a little wild with your wishes, then you’ve probably got a near comparison to the culmination of different venues at Sandhurst Military Academy. Your vows and solemn promises made under arches concreted in tradition and service to others, walking hand in hand from steps of a few years back when graduating, to the drinking among friends and family under the leaves of trees surrounded by a lake where you’ll row a boat with your wife as your guests look on in joy.

It’s a very hard thing to multi-task. I struggle through being a guy when not being a wedding photographer, but when focusing on capturing the little bits of magic through the day it’s an even harder thing to do. I try my best to listen as speeches are made and stories told in what is often a prime time to capture the little tears and rivets of laughter, but often fail to hear the importance of the words that are spoken at such a time in a wedding day. Not, however here and on this day. There’s a flow to a wedding day of celebration that’s noticeable if you follow it through from start to finish. It’s often when we’re sat in the car on the way home (after spending the night getting lost in the female only mess accommodation and without any footwear) that we draw upon the wedding day and breathe, “Wow, what a day”! Sarah & James we wish you both the continuation of this day through the rest of your years.

If anybody does wish (as they will) to have a perfect wedding day, where your hopes are met and the start of life together is set, then we hope these pictures will suffice to that hope.

We hope you enjoy the following pictures as much as we enjoyed being the wedding photographers for Sarah & James at the Sandhurst Military Academy.

I’m not going to lie, It’s been a long time since our last blog post and there’s quite a bit of catch up to do. A definite highlight however and one which makes the process of blogging far, far easer was one magical wedding that took place at The Barn in South Milton.

Nestled quietly along one track roads on the Devonshire coast and set proud atop a panoramic vista looking out to the salty waves lapping up the warm Devonshire sands. This is a place that Jo and Sam feel in love with and it’s quite easy to see why.

The Barn really is a wedding venue that stands out amongst a very crowded market place and in truth theres very few venues where you feel a part of the venue in quite the same way. That, as a wedding couple, your day cant be replicated – copy and pasted for someone else, week in and week out. It’s truly refreshing to be greeted by a team of people willing to put themselves into what they offer and in this, The Barn at South Milton excels far and above most other wedding locations. I’m pretty sure that one of the reasons Jo and Sam chose the Barn was the enthusiasm and passion provided by the owners.

I have always found the most enjoyable weddings are the ones where the bride and groom have given themselves to their day. It’s no small feat to plan a wedding and it takes an awful lot of friends and loving family. But this, as I hope the pictures below show, was one of those weddings where it all came together. Anyway, we hope you enjoy the wedding pictures below as much as we enjoyed being the wedding photographers on Jo and Sam’s big day!

Paul and Paula - It’s only now, on this rainy November day, that I’m finally getting around to looking back at all the absolutely stunning weddings we have hosted here at The Barn this year. I’m looking through all the lovely photographs we’ve been sent, which is a perfect job for this cold and rainy autumn day! I’ve just come across Jo & Sams beautiful wedding photographs and they immediately brought back all the amazing memories of their weekend here. I also wanted to say a huge thank you to Monty, not only for taking the most beautiful photographs to create wonderful memories forever, but for his extremely kind words about our special wedding venue. We love our venue, and always feel extremely privileged to be a part of one of the most important days of a couples lives. Thank you Monty, and thank you Jo & Sam for making our job so wonderful and enjoyable! xx Paula & PaulReplyCancel
